Walmart Notifies Chinese Suppliers To Resume Shipments

Following U.S. President Trump's so-called "reciprocal tariffs," global retail giant Walmart has undergone a dramatic shift in stance. Initially demanding Chinese suppliers bear the burden of steep tariffs, the company reversed course just 20 days later under inventory pressures, opting to absorb the tariffs itself and resume sourcing from China. Manufacturers in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces-key export hubs hit hard by the U.S.-China trade war-have received notices from Walmart and other major U.S. retailers to restart shipments in the coming days.

For example, a large stationery and office supplies exporter in Ningbo, Zhejiang, confirmed it was notified by Walmart on Monday to resume normal shipments to the U.S. The company stated that the costs of newly imposed import tariffs would now be covered by U.S. customers.
