Mini Pony Lives in Fourth‑Floor Apartment After Rejection By Mother

A tiny one‑month‑old pony has become an unexpected celebrity in a Croatian coastal town, after moving into a family's fourth‑floor city apartment for round‑the‑clock rescue care.

Named Mile, the miniature pony was abandoned by his mother right after birth. He also suffered a dangerous bacterial infection and had to undergo emergency surgery across the border in Slovenia. Local animal lovers raised donations online to cover his medical bills.

His owner Andjelka Josipovic said keeping a baby pony in a small city flat is far from convenient. Every two hours, day and night, the family warms milk and bottle‑feeds Mile. If feeding time is delayed, the foal will nudge and wake everyone up in the bedroom.

The one‑bedroom apartment is already home to two young boys, a pet dog, and now the growing pony. Surprisingly, none of the building neighbours have filed complaints. Locals often stop by the building hallway to catch a quick glimpse of the cute animal.

Veterinarians originally feared Mile would not survive and suggested euthanasia. But the family insisted on trying to save him. Now Mile has gained more than one kilogram, with a strong appetite and energetic personality.

"He loves to eat and fight for attention," Josipovic told local reporters. "We know this is only temporary. Once he gets stronger, he will go back out to our ranch about 15 kilometres away."

Footage of the apartment‑dwelling pony has spread widely across European social‑media platforms, drawing millions of views. Many netizens commented that it was heart‑warming to see such devotion to saving a vulnerable baby animal.
